Trauma Informed Practice in Social Work – An Overview

The NI-CO Team Saturday held a dialogue session with social workers in Amman “Trauma Informed Practice in Social Work – An Overview” to introduce the concept of trauma in Social Work and outline how this can be used to better understand, assess and engage with beneficiaries.

NI-CO Component Lead Dr Michael Murray led the dialogue session and explained the concept of trauma in social work that also focused on the importance of developing trauma-informed organisations and trauma-informed communities.

Social workers who partook in the session gave very positive feedback and requested further seminars on related subjects such as “Adverse Childhood Experiences and Infant Mental Health.”

The dialogue session was supported by NI-CO Expert on Professionalisation of Social Work Ashraf Bkour and facilitated by the Jordan Association of Social Work (JASW).

The dialogue session is part of the “EU Support to Social Protection Programme in Jordan.”
