The Jordanian Association for Social Work (JASW) organised a visit by the British Association of Social Workers—Northern Ireland (BASW—NI) for the latter to witness first-hand the services of national and international organisations operating in Jordan.
The BASW-NI visiting delegates provided specialized training for JASW members and held discussions on the important role of a professional body for social workers to ensure best practices and standards in social services and raise the status of social workers.
JASW President Ashraf Bkour said the visit is part of a long-standing cooperation between JASW and BASW in areas of specialised training and sharing experiences and expertise in the field of social work.
The visiting delegation comprised the Chair of BASW NI and Independent Social Worker, Orlaith McGibbon; the National Director of BASW NI, Carolyn Ewart; the Vice Chair of BASW NI and Professor of Social Work at Queen’s University Belfast, Dr. Davy Hayes; and BASW NI member and Lead Social Worker in Adult Care Belfast Health and Social Care Trust, Janine Gordon.
